The fourth largest metropolitan city of India, Chennai provides a broad industrial base in the automobile, technology, hardware manufacturing and healthcare industries. According to the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy, there are 1,153 live projects under implementation across 31 districts with an investment of Rs 4,01,712.07 crore as on August 3,2008.

Chennai is implementing a 100-MLD (million litres per day) water desalination project at Minjur in north Chennai, the largest in India and is developing the facility on DBOOT basis under a 25-year concession period. India’s first PPP project, Tirupur Water Supply and Sewerage Project is in operation for almost three years. It supplies 185MLD industrial and domestic water to industries in Tirupur and households in Tirupur Municipality (TM) and Village Panchayats.

After the success of the 2007 event in Chennai, the 7^th EverythingAboutWater Expo comes back to Chennai after a gap of 3 years. The event is being held at the Chennai Trade Centre from Jan 7-9, 2010. The event includes a two-day internationally reputed exhibition on latest developments in the Water & Wastewater sector, a conference on non-chemical disinfection technologies and training workshops on seawater desalination and water reuse & recycle.
